Nickay Productions like many other companies in the media space has been impacted hugely due to no large gatherings or events taking place. With current level 1 lockdown restrictions in South Africa, we see a slow uptake in business yet businesses in general are still cautious
Wedding and event Photographers have been most effected yet 2021 and 2022 there should be a huge upsurge in weddings due to many weddings been postponed in 2020. We have seen an increase in studio-based shoots and smaller on location shoots.
In 2018 Nickay Productions has designed and implemented an e-commerce platform to increase the service offering to its clients. With effects of the pandemic in 2020 to the event industry, Nickay Productions reaped the full reward of this investment. The introduction of our e-commerce platform, physical contact with clients at events and in studio has been reduced, and clients can view and purchase images at their own convenience. The future of photography is purely dependent on how pliable I am as a photographer and/or as a business.
In Nickay Productions existence the past 18 years to many naysayers have given countless reasons why photography is dying yet we at Nickay embraced the technological advancements which has completely benefitted our service offering to our clients.
How long photography would be a meaningful career choice is anyone's guess yet how willing and open photographers are to change will dictate his/her relevance in the industry. Make no mistake COVID-19 has hugely impacted the industry and made us look at our businesses with the new normal in mind. Optimism and passions could create opportunity where it seems challenging and/or bleak.
